What an Ultra-High-End Credit Card Can Offer You

If you can’t imagine what would make someone shell out upwards of $500 a year for a premium credit card, then you probably aren’t aware of all the perks offered by some of the newer, ultra-high-end credit cards out there. The fact is, these cards offer rewards and benefits that are worth far more than their hefty annual fees. Read on to find out why you might actually want to spend a little more on the annual fee for your next credit card.

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire card is one of the more recently released ultra-premium credit cards you may have heard of. With an annual fee of $450, it needs to offer some pretty amazing perks to justify its price tag. It delivers just that, however, giving cardholders automatic Hilton Honors Diamond elite status, as well as 14 Hilton Honors reward points per dollar spent at Hilton hotels and resorts. They also give seven points per dollar spent on flights, rental cars, and restaurants, and three points per dollar on all other purchases.

Besides all that, cardmembers are entitled to enjoy one free weekend night per year at a Hilton property. And if they spend $60,000 or more on the card in a year, they get two free nights at a Hilton property.

Airline perks add to value

The benefits aren’t limited to hotel stays, either. If you’re carrying a Hilton Honors Amex Aspire card, you’ll have unlimited access to airport lounges; the card comes with a Priority Pass that you can use anytime you’re in an airport that offers a Priority Pass lounge.

If you want to do the math, you’ll see that the $450 annual fee is equaled out by the annual $250 airline incidental fee statement credit, plus a $250 Hilton resort statement credit each year. All you have to do is spend at least $250 on airline incidentals, such as baggage fees, food and beverage purchases, and entertainment, as well as spending $250 at a Hilton resort each year, and you’ll more than earn back your annual fee.

The bottom line is, before you reject a credit card as having too steep an annual fee, check out the perks and see whether it’s worth it. In the case of these newer ultra high-end cards, they usually are.
