QUESTION:
How can I use a credit card wisely?
ANSWER:
May 30th, 2013

The two main things to responsible credit card use are making payments on time and keeping balances low.  It’s also a good idea is to pay your balance in full each month to avoid interest. Most credit cards offer a grace period, but charge interest once that 30 days is over. Interest is accrued immediately at the start of the billing period on outstanding balances.

You should shop around for your card to be sure you are getting the best APR as well as benefits. Many cards come with insurance for travelers and auto rentals for example which can save you money on vacation. There are also rewards, which can come in points, miles or cash back that can be deposited into your credit card account.
